We meet every 10-11 days on Monday morning or Friday afternoon, from September to June.
Standard outings last 2-3 hours, subject to weather and time of year. They usually involve a gentle stroll with several stops to look, listen and, where possible, identify what we are looking at. Our interest has extended to look for and record not only birds, but also any fauna and flora that takes our collective fancy. Outings can provide sightings of up to 30 bird species with exceptional counts in the low 50s.
We also undertake whole day or longer trips to reserves in other parts of the country for those who want to see birds that are not likely to be found on our local patch.
Emails are sent to group members at regular intervals with our outings timetable, detailed location information, and sighting reports.
The only requirements of members on our outings are: interest, binoculars, stout waterproof shoes and appropriate weatherproof clothing.
