The Merribells P Group is a fairly proficient group of handbell ringers.

We aim to play music of a good standard both for our own enjoyment and satisfaction, and to entertain others. We often play in senior citizens care homes etc, especially at Christmastime.  Therefore, it is important that members are committed to regular attendance at practice sessions and are prepared to give up their time in order to perform in different venues in our local area.  This also includes transporting all our musical paraphernalia.

Many of us are members of the Handbell Ringers of Great Britain (HRGB). We sometimes attend regional events and training courses to hone our skills. For example, developing the skills of playing more than one bell in each hand, picking up and playing bells from the table with speed and accuracy.

Handbell ringing is great fun and excellent for developing coordination, concentration, musicality, and playing as part of a team. The ability to read music and understand rhythm is essential, but you do not have to be an expert.  We support each other in our learning. Entry to this group is by invitation only, via our other group - Merribells R.
